What if your employees swapped the car for more sustainable transport solutions? With ‘Coach Me (If You Can)’, Espaces Mobilités offers them personalised support to take the leap, stress-free and with a responsible touch.
Changing your mode of transport: what if it were easy? Between endless traffic jams, the cost of travel and employee well-being, rethinking the way you travel can make all the difference. That's where ‘Coach Me (If You Can)’ comes in, a programme initiated by the Espaces Mobilités consultancy and supported by the Federal Public Service Mobility. The aim is to encourage employees to leave the solo car behind, by opting for more responsible alternatives tailored to their comfort. As Diégo Eggermont, a partner at Espaces Mobilités and one of the people in charge of the programme, explains: ‘Coach Me (If You Can) aims to change the mobility behaviour of staff within companies. It also has a positive impact on mental health’.
The motivations are clear. Firstly, the financial reasons: ‘too expensive, everyone wins by leaving their car at home’. Then there's the environmental impact: the less you use your car, the less you pollute. Finally, it's also a question of common sense. ‘If you have a short journey, why take a car that weighs two tonnes when a bike will do the job perfectly’?
Advice and practice
How does it work? ‘Mobility is above all an individual thing’. Rather than imposing ready-made solutions, the programme focuses on support. Each company benefits from personalised coaching, to understand the obstacles, test new options and find the mode of transport that really suits them and their employees. In short, there's no pressure, just trials and solutions that make sense on a daily basis.
Coach Me (If You Can) provides a number of tools to support this change. These include the loan of a bike for two weeks, just to get an idea before taking the leap into the long term, and a mobility budget of 100 euros, to be used with a prepaid card, to try out different modes of transport: train, public transport, scooter, shared bike or even car-sharing. A simple way to see what works.
Healthy business with healthy mobility
As well as benefiting employees, Coach Me (If You Can) also benefits employers. Less stress linked to commuting, more punctual and motivated teams, a reduced carbon footprint: the advantages are numerous. According to Diégo Eggermont, some companies that have tested the initiative are even seeing greater cohesion within their teams, thanks in particular to car-sharing and shared journeys.
By rethinking mobility with personalised support, Espaces Mobilités provides a turnkey solution for employees who are still reluctant to change their habits. In short, a simple, effective programme that works. What if, in the end, the hardest thing was just to dare to try?
